An Accra High Court has granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral and burial arrangements of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka amid an ongoing family dispute over his estate.
The order was granted following an application filed by the Kristo Asafo Mission, according to the Mission’s lawyer, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka.
He said the injunction temporarily bars Adwoa Safo from organising the funeral until the court hears the matter.
The legal dispute centres on disagreements within the Safo family over who has the authority to oversee the funeral arrangements and implement the late industrialist’s final wishes.
The funeral and burial, which had been scheduled for July 30 and 31, have been put on hold pending further directions from the court.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, before the injunction was announced, Adwoa Safo maintained that the funeral would proceed as planned and urged her brother, Kwadwo Safo Akofena, not to interfere with the arrangements.
The court is expected to hear the matter after the expiration of the interim injunction.
