STC debunks fatality claims after Accra-Kumasi bus accident

Intercity STC Coaches Limited has dismissed reports that passengers died in a recent road accident involving one of its buses travelling from Accra to Kumasi, stating that all passengers and crew members survived the crash.

In a public notice issued by management, the state-owned transport company said the accident occurred on Monday, Aug. 3, involving one of its buses travelling on the Accra-Kumasi route.

The company said inaccurate information circulated after the incident through an interview attributed to the bus driver, suggesting that only 10 passengers survived the accident.

STC described the claim as false and said it did not reflect the actual circumstances of the incident.

“We are pleased to confirm that all passengers and crew members on board survived the accident,” the company said.

According to the statement, passengers who sustained injuries received the necessary medical treatment and were discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

The company said the safety and well-being of its passengers and staff remain its highest priority.

It added that it is working closely with the relevant authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident and would provide verified information as investigations progress.

STC also reassured passengers and the general public of its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and customer service across its operations.
