President John Dramani Mahama has praised Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the hardest-working members of his administration and crediting him with delivering on key government assignments.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Juapong Model Market in the Volta Region, Mahama said the North Tongu lawmaker had consistently demonstrated commitment and efficiency in carrying out responsibilities assigned to him.
“Being here, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers. In every critical assignment that I have given him, it is he who has done the legwork,” the president said.
Mahama cited Ablakwa’s role in securing international support for Ghana’s resolution on reparations at the United Nations, saying the foreign minister had engaged countries to build backing for the initiative.
The president also commended Ablakwa for coordinating efforts to evacuate Ghanaians from conflict zones, describing the exercise as a significant diplomatic achievement.
“The repatriation of our citizens… it was he who did the legwork. He arranged the charter flights to airlift our citizens safely home,” Mahama said.
He further disclosed that Ablakwa had procured 100 deep freezers for traders expected to be affected by the redevelopment of the Juapong Market, saying the equipment would help cushion their livelihoods during the construction period.
Mahama thanked the minister for what he described as his dedication to public service and urged residents of the constituency to continue supporting the government’s development initiatives.
