The Ghana School of Law (GSL) has postponed examinations scheduled for Monday after heavy rainfall and flooding disrupted movement across parts of Accra, including areas surrounding the examination centre.
In a notice issued to students on Monday, the school’s management said the decision followed a review of weather conditions and consultations with the Chair of the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC).
Management said the postponement was necessary to protect the safety of students travelling to the examination venue.
Students were urged not to risk travelling through floodwaters or heavy rainfall to attend the examinations.
“No student will be disadvantaged with respect to the examinations as a result of this act of God,” the notice said.
The school said examinations would not begin until weather conditions had improved and students had been given sufficient time to travel safely, should the examinations proceed later in the day.
Students were advised to monitor their official email accounts, mobile phones, WhatsApp, the school’s website and social media platforms for further updates.
“Your safety remains our highest priority. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to monitor the situation,” management said.
The postponement comes after heavy rains on Monday morning triggered flooding across several parts of Accra, disrupting transport, business activities and access to public institutions.
Authorities had earlier warned of heavy rainfall and possible flash floods in parts of southern Ghana, with several roads in the capital becoming inundated and leaving commuters stranded.
The Ghana School of Law said it would continue to monitor the situation and communicate any further decisions to students as conditions improve.
