The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service to improve emergency response and protect lives and property across the country.
Speaking during the commissioning of newly acquired vehicles for the Service on Monday, May 18, the Minister said the intervention forms part of efforts to enhance mobility and operational efficiency within the Fire Service.
The vehicles commissioned included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-up vehicles, one Toyota Camry saloon car procured by government, as well as a Honda motorbike donated to the Service.
According to the Interior Minister, the vehicles are expected to support operational duties and improve the Service’s emergency response capabilities nationwide.
Mr Mohammed-Mubarak further disclosed that government is currently at an advanced stage in the procurement of 100 fire engines and additional rescue equipment to strengthen firefighting operations across the country.
He commended officers and personnel of the Fire Service for their dedication and sacrifices in the discharge of their duties and urged them to ensure proper maintenance and responsible use of the vehicles.
Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong expressed appreciation to government for the continued support and assured that the Service would make effective use of the vehicles.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Fire Service to professionalism, efficiency and effective emergency response delivery in safeguarding lives and property.
