Apple has entered the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone Duo, unveiled during the company’s latest product event led by new Chief Executive Officer John Ternus.
The device marks Apple’s first foldable iPhone and represents one of the company’s biggest changes to its smartphone design in years.
The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display when folded and expands to a 7.6-inch screen when opened. Apple has designed the device to support multitasking, including split-screen use, while also working with the Apple Pencil.
The foldable phone is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip and will be available with storage capacity of up to 2TB. It starts at $1,999, making it the most expensive iPhone in Apple’s current lineup.
Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with the new models receiving upgrades to their cameras, battery performance and processing capabilities.
The Pro models are powered by the A20 Pro chip and feature an improved camera system, including an adjustable aperture aimed at giving users greater control over photography. Apple has also incorporated new artificial-intelligence features into the devices.
The launch was particularly significant for Ternus, who was presenting his first major Apple product event since taking over as CEO from Tim Cook.
Beyond the iPhone lineup, Apple also announced the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5, expanding its latest product range with new health, audio and AI-related features.
The iPhone Duo is scheduled to go on sale on October 23, with pre-orders beginning earlier in October.
