National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko, has called on members of the party to unite, warning that the NPP cannot return to power if internal divisions are allowed to continue.
Speaking during the official launch of his campaign on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Mr. Afoko said healing the party’s internal differences must become a top priority if the NPP hopes to regain the confidence of Ghanaians ahead of future elections.
According to him, the party cannot succeed when loyal members feel ignored, excluded, or treated unfairly. He also warned that internal contests should not become a source of conflict that weakens the party.
Mr. Afoko said the NPP must return to the values on which it was built, including respect, discipline, tolerance, service, and loyalty. He believes these principles are necessary to restore unity and strengthen the party.
He stressed that his decision to contest for the position of National Chairman is not to promote any particular group or faction within the party. Instead, he said his aim is to bring members together and rebuild trust across all levels of the party.
Mr. Afoko pledged to work with party members from every region and generation, saying every committed member deserves to feel valued and included in the party’s activities.
He said the NPP must put aside personal differences and focus on its common goal of rebuilding the party and preparing for future elections.
His comments come as the New Patriotic Party prepares for internal elections to choose new national executives following its defeat in the 2024 general election.
The outcome of the elections is expected to play an important role in shaping the party’s future as it reorganises and works towards returning to government.
