Manchester City found guilty of majority of 115 Premier League financial charges

Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of breaching all but one of the 115 financial rules they were accused of violating by the Premier League, according to sources cited by BBC Sport and reports from The Athletic.

The decision was reached by an independent panel following the Premier League’s long-running case against the club.

The sanctions to be imposed on Manchester City have not yet been determined, with the next stage of the process expected to focus on the consequences of the findings.

The Premier League has declined to comment on the reports.

Manchester City also did not directly confirm or deny the reported outcome but maintained that the disciplinary process remains ongoing.

In a statement, the club said the “Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality.”

The club also said it had respected due process throughout the eight-year proceedings and expected the Premier League Board and Executive to act as an independent and impartial regulator.

The case stems from 115 charges announced by the Premier League in February 2023 following a four-year investigation into the club’s financial affairs. The allegations cover several seasons and include claims relating to the provision of accurate financial information and compliance with financial regulations.

Manchester City have consistently denied wrongdoing in the case.

The club is expected to appeal the findings once the process reaches the relevant stage.

The reported verdict does not yet determine what sanctions Manchester City could face, as the punishment remains to be decided and could also be subject to an appeal.
