Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, to remain united and give their best performance at the FIFA World Cup, assuring the players of the full support of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang delivered the message during a visit to the team’s training camp in Toronto, Canada, where she led a delegation of prominent Ghanaians ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Panama.
Addressing the players, the Vice President said the entire nation was behind them as they seek to make an impact on football’s biggest stage.
“Ghana is rooting for you, regardless of where you are, whether in the diaspora, on farms, or at home. The whole country is behind you,” she said.
She commended the Black Stars for their efforts and encouraged them to strive for even greater success during the tournament.
“We know you are doing well, and we know you will excel. I want you to go even higher. Every mother will want their child to be the best they can be and even excel when they think they have reached their goal. So we are here to encourage you to do more,” she added.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the importance of teamwork, describing unity and cooperation as essential ingredients for success both on and off the pitch.
“Regardless of what your strength is, you become even stronger when you play with somebody else. If in the process, you make someone else even stronger, we succeed even more,” she said.
The Vice President’s visit comes as the Black Stars prepare to begin their FIFA World Cup campaign, with hopes of advancing deep into the competition and making the nation proud.
