Meet the only Artistes to win TGMA Artiste of the Year twice

Across 27 years of Ghana’s biggest music celebration, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, only four artistes have ever reached the summit twice.

It is an exclusive club. A rare achievement. A mark of consistency, impact, and dominance.

And these are the four names that built it.

1. VIP / VVIP

Wins: 2004 & 2011

One of the pioneers of modern Ghanaian group music, VIP first broke through in 2004, capturing the industry’s biggest prize. Years later, rebranded as VVIP, they proved their longevity by winning again in 2011.

They represent the foundation of Ghanaian mainstream hiplife success.

2. Sarkodie

Wins: 2010 & 2012

The rap powerhouse changed the direction of Ghanaian music with his lyrical dominance and commercial appeal.

Sarkodie first won Artiste of the Year in 2010 and reclaimed it again in 2012 , cementing his status as one of the most consistent forces in African rap history.

3. Stonebwoy

Wins: 2015 & 2024

From dancehall roots to global recognition, Stonebwoy’s journey reflects endurance and evolution.

He first won in 2015 and, nearly a decade later, returned stronger to win again in 2024 , proving his longevity in a constantly evolving industry.

4. Black Sherif

Wins: 2023 & 2026

The newest member of the elite circle, and the youngest of them all.

Black Sherif first shocked the industry in 2023 at just 21 years old. In 2026, at 24, he returned to reclaim the crown, becoming the youngest artiste ever to win the award twice.
